Wait for int'l flights from city airport gets longer

Indore: The city, it seems, will have to wait for some more time before international flights start operating from the airport.
The need to make international flights operate from Indore airport even found mention during recently concluded Global Investors Summit. After investors raised the issue of Indore's air connectivity with the rest of the world, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan requested External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to intervene in the matter and see to it that the service was started from here as soon as possible.
Chouhan during his GIS address requested assistance from Centre in making Indore airport an international destination. "The city has all facilities to accommodate international flights. We need overseas flight operations as soon as possible," he said.
The business community has been demanding launch of overseas flights from Indore for the last couple of years as they feel it will boost business and tourism potential of the state. But things don't seem to be taking off the ground any time soon. Airport authorities had earlier said that airport had all infrastructure needed to operate international flights.
