3 international flights diverted due to dense fog

Mangaluru: For the second day on Friday, dense fog saw three international flights being diverted at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar here.
Three inbound flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai were diverted to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and Kochi International Airport respectively on Friday. The flights were diverted on account of poor visibility on the runway due to dense fog that had enveloped the airport area at Kenjar, J T Radhakrishna, airport director, MIA said.
While the first flight to MIA was Jet Airways 9W 501 from Abu Dhabi arrived at 6.45am and was diverted to Bengaluru. It later arrived at 11.17am. Air India Express flight IX814 from Dubai that was scheduled to land at MIA at 7.25am was diverted to Cochin. The flight finally landed at 11.40am. The third flight was Jet Airways 9W531 from Dubai which arrived at 8.50am and was diverted to Bengaluru. It arrived at Mangaluru airport at 11.42am.
