Air India Express (AIE) introduced low-cost flight services from Dhaka to Kolkata, with convenient onward connection to Singapore with effect from November 20 this year.
The services will be available four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, Air India said in a statement yesterday.
“In line with AIE's policy of offering cost effective travel, we will be offering competitive and affordable fares on both sectors,” said K Shyam Sundar, CEO of the airline.
“We maintain 100 percent schedule reliability and the on time performance of the airline is above 80 percent.”
India's first international budget carrier, Air India Express is a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India Ltd.
The budget carrier currently operates around 500 flights a week, connecting 14 Indian cities to 14 destinations in the Middle East and South East Asia.
The airline has a fleet of 23 Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, six of which are brand new, according  to the statement.
