Security beefed up at Lohegaon airport

Pune: With the shadow of terror darkening airports across the country, security has been beefed up at Pune's Lohegaon Airport.
The director general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) held a high-level meeting with all his airport security commanders over the issue recently. The Pune airport authorities told TOI that vehicle checks in and around the airport have increased, and CISF men in civil clothes man different points of the airport to closely monitor suspicious people.
"Though a number cannot be divulged due to security reasons, the presence of security men in and around the airport has been increased. In addition to this, the vehicles checks on the approach roads to the airport have also increased with the help of local police and dog squads. The presence of dog squads has also been increased at different areas in and around the airport," an airport official told TOI on the condition of anonymity.
"Random checks are taking place when it comes to vehicles as well as people coming towards the airport. Also, the infrastructure along around the airport is being monitored constantly," the official said, adding: "Even though this is a defence airport, all efforts are being made to ensure proper security."
