MP rides to aircraft alone

That VIP culture is ingrained in our system was evident from an incident at Patna airport today, even as the country was recovering from the outrage over Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad's behaviour that led major airlines to "ban" him from air travel.

This afternoon, BJP Lok Sabha member from Madhubani constituency, Hukumdev Narayan Yadav, was provided a bus at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport to travel alone to board Jet Airways flight 9W0724 to New Delhi. While the 77-year-old lawmaker travelled comfortably in the big bus provided by the airline, other passengers left waiting were not amused.

"This is really shameful," said a passenger who was on the flight. "We can understand if special services are provided to the President or Prime Minister, but why pamper politicians and strengthen VIP culture? Our country has already suffered a lot due to this."
