Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad boards first Air India flight after ban

Shiv Sena Member of Parliament Ravindra Gaikwad today boarded an Air India flight from Hyderabad to Delhi, his first on the state carrier since he was banned from flying for slapping an airlines employee.
Gaikwad boarded the flight at 4.15 pm today after reports of several attempts of booking an Air India ticket were allegedly made by him under various identities. Most of his travel to Delhi and other places in the last month were through trains.
On March 23, Gaikwad had assaulted Air India staffer, duty manager R Sukumar, 60, inside an aircraft at the Delhi airport. The national carrier as well as other domestic airlines then barred him from taking their flights.
Earlier this month, the ban was revoked after the MP wrote a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju expressing regret over the incident. Delhi Police is still probing the incident.
Following the incident, two FIRs were filed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport police station for assault and delaying the plane.
