Former Jet Airways pilot sends airline notice, files defamation suit against Harbhajan Singh

Mumbai: A former Jet Airways pilot Bernd Hosselin has filed a defamation suit against cricketer Harbhajan Singh and his two companions and sent a notice to Jet Airways.

Hosselin's legal actions followed his removal from the airline which he said was a direct result of a previous altercation with Singh and his two companions on board a Jet aircraft.

The incident happened on board a Jet aircraft on April 3. Singh and his companions Pooja Gujaral and Jatinder Singh Shah brought Shah's personal wheelchair inside the aircraft, a practice not in keeping with DGCA norms. Hosselin asked Gujaral to remove the wheelchair, leading to an argument.
Singh later sent out several tweets accusing Hosselin of racial slurs.

"So called this Bernd Hoesslin a pilot with @jetairways called my fellow indian(u bloody indian get out of my flight)while he is earning here (Sic),” tweeted Singh.

"Not only was he racist but physically assaulted a lady and abused a physically challenged man..absolutely disgraceful &shame on @jetairways,".
In the notice, Hosselin said he was subsequently sacked from Jet Airways for no fault of his and "despite, repeated assurances from their senior officials of Jet Airways, of not doing anything wrong, and acting in accordance with their and DGCA rules," Samit Shukla, Hosselin's lawyer from DSK Legal confirmed that notices and letters have been sent this morning to Singh, his companions and Jet.
