‘Illegal eatery near airport poses threat’

Vasco: A retired Army officer has written to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) against illegal structures that have come up in the close vicinity of Dabolim international airport, posing a threat to the structure.
"An eatery has illegally come up overlooking the airport. It has become an ideal place to launch an attack on the airport...," states the letter written by Satyendra Singh on June 5.
Singh has written to the Mormugao municipal council (MMC) urging it to demolish the structures and take action against those involved in setting them up. Joint general manager (electrical), Krishnan, in-charge of the airport, said, "We have written to MMC and also directed our commercial section and terminal manager to initiate an inquiry into the structures." MMC chairperson Deepak Naik said.
