International airport to come up in Agra once land is available, Jayant Sinha assures locals

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha has assured the people of Agra that an international airport will be developed in the city, something that the locals have been demanding for several decades.
Sinha added that the airport in Jewar had nothing to do and was different from Agra's claim for an airport.
Talking to India Today, the Union Minister said, "The government is looking for sufficient land to construct a new international airport in Agra. In the meantime, a civil enclave will be established in the city over a stretch of 23 hectares of land for which the UP government has released the final instalment of Rs 64.94 crore."
He said that the international airport in Agra was a separate issue from Jewar as the airport in Jewar was being constructed to reduce air traffic congestion at Delhi airport.
