13 flights cancelled at Srinagar airport, passengers aghast

Air traffic on Wednesday remained mostly affected at Srinagar International Airport, after 10 flights could operate while 13 were cancelled due to poor visibility and light snowfall.
“As many as 13 flights operating from Srinagar airport were initially delayed and later cancelled due to poor visibility and light snowfall in the summer capital,” an official of the airport.
However, he said as the day progressed the snow from the runway was cleared and following improvement in visibility, 10 flights were able to operate from the airport.
As many as 23 flights operate from the airport between Srinagar, Jammu and New Delhi and other states on daily bases.
Earlier the Airline Company Indigo had announced that its all flights to Srinagar would stand cancelled for Wednesday.
A chunk of flights from other companies including Indian Airlines, Jet airways and Spice too were cancelled after visibility ceased to improve till noon.
As per the airport authorities, the first flight that landed at Srinagar was AI 821 at 01:55pm.
Since morning scores of the passengers were seen waiting at the airport, who later had to return homes after their flights were cancelled.
