AAI to Send Team to US for CAT IIIB training

New Delhi: Facing flak for not having trained manpower to operate the surface movement radar—a mandatory equipment of the newly-installed CAT IIIB landing system at Delhi airport—the Airports Authority of India today issued orders to send a batch of maintenance personnel and air traffic controllers for training to the US in mid-January.
The decision acknowledges the fact that not a single person has been trained so far to operate the radar. The training, which was part of the induction programme, could not be carried out this month due to delay in firming up the team.
By the time AAI finalised the team, Sensis—the manufacturing company— postponed the week-long training due to the Christmas break.
