Modernisation of airports to boost job generation

The development of two new airports and the modernisation of around 40 others across the country is expected to create 50,000-60,000 jobs, according to analysts and aviation experts. This includes direct and indirect jobs as well those generated in allied areas.
The company setting up the new airport at Hyderabad, scheduled to be operational by 2008, is expected to have about 500 employees on its rolls besides creating opportunity for about 3,000. Contrary to fears of job losses, the modernisation of Mumbai and Delhi airports would eventually add more numbers, said Mr Kapil Kaul, CEO, Centre for Asia-Pacific Aviation (CAPA), an aviation research and consultancy agency.
