Air hostess academy grounded, officials arrested for fraud

Kolkata:Officials of a leading air hostess training academy that allegedly fleeced students, promising them high-flying jobs by misusing congratulatory messages on letterheads of leading airlines, have been arrested.
Police Tuesday said two senior functionaries of the Air Hostess Academy (AHA), which has corporate office in New Delhi's Lajpat Nagar area, were arrested Saturday following complaints that the academy was cheating the students. 'The academy claimed that it had tie-ups with British Airways, Swissair, Jet Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Air Sahara, SpiceJet and Air Deccan among others,' an officer of the Ballygunge police station here told IANS.
'The academy had actually asked for congratulatory letters from the airline companies and thus collected greetings on official letterheads of the airlines. The academy used those as their tie-up letters to entice students with job prospects and charged up to Rs.100,000 per student for training,' he said.
