Kolkata: A leading airhostess academy whose two officials were arrested here on charges of cheating a student alleged Thursday that the incident was engineered by a competitor that chose to malign them.
Reacting to an IANS report of Tuesday, the Delhi-headquartered Air Hostess Academy (AHA) with countrywide branches, rebutted the police version made available to this agency and said: “We would also like to state that this whole episode is a conspiracy by our competitor.”
While police told IANS that the AHA used micro-xerox copies of congratulatory messages of some leading airlines like British Airways in their letterheads to misguide students, the academy said:
“One can go through all the leaflets and papers shared by the Academy with the students during the admissions. No institution can claim to have tie-ups with any organisation in which they place their students. “We have also never used the congratulatory letters to claim that we have a tie-up with any airline,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, an investigating officer of the Ballygunge police station said he had gone to Mumbai to check the veracity of the claims made by AHA. He did not rule out more arrests.
