Airports across the country on extra alert

New Delhi: Airports across the country have been put on "special alert" and security upgraded in the wake of the terror attacks in the holy town of Varanasi killing at least 20 people.
"We have intensified security at airports after Tuesday's attack. We have asked them to be on extra alert," CISF Director General S I S Ahmed told reporters here.
CISF has been entrusted with the security of 54 airports, including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, and also guards vital installations like nuclear plants, space facilities, sea ports and oil refineries.
