New Delhi: The Delhi and Mumbai airports are likely to be handed over to private sector partners next month for expansion and modernisation.
The civil aviation ministry has completed groundwork for the ‘management transition’ and two new companies — which will be converted into joint ventures — have been set up to facilitate the process. Representatives of GMR-Fraport and GVK-South African Airports, the partners selected for the Delhi and Mumbai airports, have been put in touch with major stakeholders like airline companies.
According to government sources, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has already provided details of the employees deployed at the two airports to the concerned joint venture partner.
