Fog smothers Delhi again, flight schedules in a tailspin

New Delhi: After a close call on Saturday when an Air Deccan flight overshot the runway at Bangalore, the week began on a harrowing note for air passengers across the country. Early morning fog and low visibility disrupted flight schedules out of Delhi, delaying most flights by over two hours which led to a ripple effect across the national network.
This was followed by an emergency landing of a Los Angeles-bound Air India flight, carrying 256 passengers and 15 crew members, at Mumbai in the afternoon, after a minor snag developed during take-off from Delhi.
Domestic services from Delhi airport were disrupted between 6 and 9 am, leading to the re-scheduling of most flights flying into and out of the capital.
