International flight from Madurai by June: MP

Madurai: An international flight will be operated from Madurai by June this year, said Dindigul MP NSV Chitthan.
Speaking at a function organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Madurai Zone, to formally present the report on ‘Traffic potential at Madurai airport’, here, on Wednesday, Chitthan said that the Union Minister for Civil Aviation had given him an assurance on the operation of an international flight from Madurai by June when he represented the demand of the people in southern districts of Tamil Nadu to him.
He also pointed out that he had presented the case before the Parliament during the last session and had stressed the immense need to transform Madurai station into an international airport and operate international flights to foreign destinations such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Gulf countries thrice a week in order to trigger the economic growth of South Tamil Nadu.
