Lufthanasa plans to fly from Kolkata soon

Bangalore: Lufthansa plans to launch a service from Kolkata to Frankfurt soon to expand its India operations to Europe and beyond, a top company official said here Thursday.
'We propose to launch a regular service from Kolkata in the eastern region and one more destination from the western region to operate the remaining eight flights from India,' Lufthansa's Asia and Pacific vice-president Uwe Mueller told reporters here.
The leading European carrier operates a daily service to Frankfurt from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, with an additional daily service to Munich from Delhi.
The airline's expert teams from Germany are assessing the market potential and airport infrastructure facilities at Kolkata and Ahmedabad for launching the flights from this summer or later in the year.
