AI Express to increase flights, add 3 Indian cities in 2006

Low-cost public sector carrier Air India Express, which completed one year of operations to the Gulf, today said it will expand its network to three more Indian cities.
With this, Air India Express will cater to eight destinations in the country.
The Airline also intends to increase its flights from 42 to 73 in a week by the end of this year.
Firm orders for 18 Boeing 737-800 aircraft have already been placed with the US manufacturer as part of the expansion plans.
AI Express operates to six destinations in the region -- Abu Dhabi, Dubai, al Ain, Muscat, Salalah and Sharjah, an airline spokesperson said.
The airline has experienced a high seat factor of over 90 per cent, generally throughout its first year of operation, he said.
The carrier, which now flies from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Delhi, would add Trichy, Mangalore and Amritsar to its list of Indian cities.
