Round II of airport revamp takes off

New Delhi: The civil aviation ministry is considering to allow private sector developers like GMR and GVK, who have already won the contracts for Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore airports, to also bid for rebuilding Chennai and Kolkata airports.
The review is a part of the exercise undertaken by the ministry to do the groundwork for modernisation of the Kolkata and Chennai airports. Officials said a final decision on allowing the likes of GMR and GVK had not been taken but the proposal was being discussed.
The Delhi High Court verdict on awarding Delhi and Mumbai airports modernisation projects is expected this week.
