Bangalore airport to open by Apr 2008

Bangalore:The Bangalore International Airport is operated on a Build Own Transfer model and partners will be allowed to own projects for up to 30 years with an extendable period of 30 years.
BIAL is a consortia of three private players and two public participants with the private players holding a majority stake of 74 per cent.
"We will definitely open by April 2008. The redesign was because we hadn't anticipated the need for increased capacity so early," said Albert Brunner, CEO, BIAL.
Political interference was allegedly holding BIAL up but after the Bangalore Metro, Mono rail and the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure corridor were cleared it looks like the government is finally reacting positively.
The Bangalore International Airport is amongst one of the first greenfield airport projects that is wholly private operated and owned. There is some hope for the airport then if one is to consider Cochin.
