Domestic flights to stay a dry affair

New Delhi: The government has all but set aside an airline - Kingfisher's - request to allow it to serve beer in flights.
"There is no move to relax the no-alcohol-on-domestic-flights rule as of now,"Union civil aviation minister Praful Patel said. A Kingfisher spokesperson said they wanted permission to serve beer cans. "Glass bottles can be broken and then used as a weapon. So we wanted to give cans,"she said.
To allow this, the government would need to change Aircraft Rules and there's no plan to do that.
Meanwhile, other airlines have raised an important demand to cater to the large number of lower middle class people who have now taken to the skies, thanks to low-cost carriers.
Spice Jet, which does not sell snacks or beverages in flight, has asked the AAI to have reasonably-priced snacks at airports.
