Land real attraction in airport bid

New Delhi: The 250 acres of land around Delhi's international airport is a potential goldmine for GMR Infrastructure.The company, which won the contract to modernise the airport, has signed a 30 year lease with the government.
For all those who were trying to get the contract for the modernisation of Delhi airport, the 250 acres was the main attraction.
Delhi's international airport gets about 15 per cent of revenue from non-aviation activity.But the revenue is slated to go up by about 60 per cent because of the 250 acres od real estate.
Shopping malls and convention centres are on the cards and the car parks will be replaced by a huge multilevel parking.About of 5-10 budget and five star hotels will also be developed with the food being served will largely cater to Western tastes.
About 50 acres will be given out to logistics and supply chain management services.
