Paralysed woman injured on plane dies

Mumbai: Exactly 18 days after she sustained multiple fractures while being shifted from her plane seat to a wheelchair by Air Deccan crew, paraplegic Rita Bagga (58) died of a heart attack at her Worli home on Monday.
On April 29, MiD DAY had reported the injuries Rita sustained while she was returning from Delhi on April 27.
While Rita was discharged from a private hospital in Mumbai Central — where she underwent surgery — on May 2, she was yet to recover from her trauma. Her family believes that stress and anxiety triggered the cardiac arrest. BS Bagga, Rita’s husband, plans to take the airline to court.
Air Deccan spokesperson Vijaya Menon offered her condolences to the Baggas, but added, “We have probed the matter and her injury can’t be linked to her being shifted to the wheelchair.”
