Your bag is too cheap, ma'am!

Mumbai: Kandivli resident Sudha Singh Takoo (30) claimed Jet Airways returned her bag that they misplaced during a Heathrow-Mumbai flight on May 8, but with belongings worth Rs 40,000 missing.
Takoo said the missing items included a hair dryer, a hair-straightening machine, a few clothes, a Louis Vuitton handbag, chocolates, perfumes and a watch.
She was even more shocked by the airline’s response to her complaint. Jet Airways duty officer (baggage) Sameer Nayanpalli allegedly told her that her claims could not be processed because her bag was of cheap quality.
“Nayanpalli asked me the brand of my bag. When I told him it was a Tuff trolley bag, he dismissed it by saying, ‘That is a cheap make’.”
The airline claims it paid her Rs 4,000 compensation and delivered the bag to her home. However, Takoo alleges that the handle of the bag was broken and goods worth Rs 40,000 were missing.
