Chennai, Kolkata airport privatisation soon

New Delhi: After Delhi and Mumbai, citizens of Chennai and Kolkata can now expect new swanky airports, as the government is pushing ahead its plans of privatising these airports.
The civil aviation ministry will invite bids from private players and the winning bidder will get to modernise the entire airport. But all commercial development will be restricted to air travel and passenger benefits only.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister's Task Force on infrastructure will meet to decide on how to proceed with the modernisation of the two airports.
They will also discuss on a compromise formula to keep the Left happy.
