New Delhi: The first phase of the Delhi airport modernisation will be completed by March 2010, well before the Commonwealth Games, the consortium executing the project promised Monday.
During an interaction with the Delhi State Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a GMR Group official said the master plan for the airport would be drawn up by September 2006 and construction would begin in January 2007.
According to P. Pannicker, general manager of GMR Infrastructure Ltd, the company had set early success targets for completion within four months. These were facelift for terminal 1-B, renovation of toilets, improved housekeeping standards and improved seating arrangements.
On completion of Phase-I, the airport will have one integrated terminal catering to 30-35 million passengers, Pannicker said.
