IA plans additional flights

Doha: The Indian Airlines, which is operating daily flights to two major destinations in the southern Indian state of Kerala is likely to introduce additional flights to cater to the huge demand for seats from vacationers.
Air-India, the other Indian flag carrier operating in this sector, however, does not feel the need for additional flights since it has "adequate number of seats" and the demand during this month is less compared to last year.
Talking to The Peninsula yesterday, T Vinod Kumar, country manager, Indian Airlines, said he was hopeful about the chances of bringing additional flights, but is still awaiting confirmation from New Delhi. The Doha office has already requested for extra flights for three days, on June 30, July I and July 2, he added.
The airline is operating daily flights to Kochi and Kozhikode, the two destinations in Kerala which have been witnessing huge rush for tickets since the beginning of May .
