Jet Airways set for US landing

Mumbai: Jet Airways is likely to get a security clearance from the ministries of home affairs and civil aviation to fly its 100% subsidiary Air Sahara directly to the US, making it the first domestic private carrier to fly India-US. The official ratification is expected in the next two days, according to sources.
An Air Sahara Boeing 767 is currently in the Jet Airways hangar in Mumbai for repainting and refurbishment, before it takes off for the US.
Interestingly, the aircraft will also carry the logo of primary carrier Jet Airways, whose application for permission to fly to the US has been held up on security grounds.
When contacted by FE, Jet Airways denied there was any such development. Jet Airways executive director Saroj Datta said, “The carrier will be used for wet lease and not for US operations.”
