Mumbai: About 40 domestic flights were cancelled while many others diverted with heavy rains bringing down the visibility at the city airport making flight operations difficult.
Jet Airways has cancelled 25 flights today while Air Deccan cancelled 15 incoming and outgoing flights from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International terminal here.
Indian has not cancelled any flights, but there is a delay of 45 to one hour for all incoming and outgoing operations, the airline spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Airport Director R J Treasurywala told PTI that the functioning of the airport was "more or less normal despite some delays".
When asked about the many cancellations, he said it was up to individual airlines and pilots to take a decision whether to land and and take off aircraft from the airport.
