Cong demands probe into Kandahar

New Delhi: The ruling Congress party on Monday demanded an inquiry into the release of terrorists in exchange of Indian hostages at Kandahar in 1999, after former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh reportedly said that money and explosives too had been handed over to the militants.
"Jaswant Singh in his autobiography has claimed that he had not only carried terrorists but also explosives for them to Kandahar. He has also admitted that he had give $20 million to them," Congress spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi said.
He was referring to Jaswant Singh's autobiography, "Call to Honour: In Service of United India" that also deals with his journey to the Afghanistan city along with the terrorists to secure the release of the Indian Airlines passengers kidnapped by militants.
The book is expected to be released on Thursday.
