Honeywell bags Deccan contract

Chennai: US headquartered Honeywell International has bagged the contract to supply air safety equipment to Air Deccan, the low-cost carrier.
Honeywell would provide avionics and auxiliary power units (APUs) for Air Deccan's 67-fleet of aircraft. The selected Honeywell systems include the 131-9(A) APU and full avionic suite that included enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS), airborne collision avoidance system (ACAS), weather radar, solid state flight data recorder, cockpit voice recorders, Quantum TM line communications and navigation system and air data inertial reference system.
The carrier's fleet comprises 60 direct purchases and 7 leased new A320 aircraft. Delivery of avionics equipment and APU would begin with Air Deccan's phased aircraft deliveries starting this year through 2011.
