New terminals, runways in Delhi airport modernisation plan

New Delhi: Airlines operating out of Delhi are expected to get separate terminal space and a third full-fledged runway is to be constructed at the IGI airport when the first phase of its modernisation is completed by 2008, according to official sources.
The Delhi International Airport Ltd (Dial) had planned to provide each airline a separate area in the new terminal building, to be constructed by 2008, the sources added.
While separate terminals for domestic and international operations would come up by the end of 2010 under the second phase of modernisation process the third would begin in 2012. The first runway would be 255 metres away from the existing converging runways and would have 4,500 metres of concrete. The second one would be 4,300 metres long the sources said.
