AI's UK chief recalled

Mumabi: Air India’s regional director for UK and Europe, Captain Ashvini Kumar Sharma has been stripped of his charge and recalled to India, pending investigation into allegations of sexually harassing women subordinates.
A senior Air India official confirmed that Sharma was replaced by K D Rao on July 31. ‘‘We are waiting for him to land in India to issue him a chargesheet as there is no point in issuing one when he is out of the country,’’ he said. AI’s commercial director has put Sharma on a month’s leave.
A London newspaper reported last week that four women workers had complained of harassment by Sharma, who has survived several such allegations over the past three years by non-Indians working in AI’s London office.
The Times of India has procured written statements given by two of these women and a letter from their employer Penauille Servisair, which provides manpower to AI in London.
