BIMSTEC tourism ministers sign Kathmandu Declaration

Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectorial Technical and Economic Cooperation ( BIMSTEC) tourism ministers' roundtable and workshop concluded in Kathmandu on Tuesday with the signing of a Kathmandu Declaration and adoption of a 14-point Plan of Action.
As per the Plan of Action, the member countries agreed upon the development of tour packages (for two or more countries) including Buddhist Circuit, eco-tourism, adventure-tourism and tourism products, organizing familiarization trips for journalists and tour operators, and travel facilitation within BIMSTEC member countries, according to a press release issued here Tuesday.
BIMSTEC groups Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Nepal and Bhutan joined this sub-regional group in February 2004.
