Chief Minister orders to stop encroachment around Airport

Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Friday expressed deep concern over the encroachment raised by the private colonizer around the Rajasansi Airport and ordered the deputy commissioner, KDS Bhullar to stall the construction work with immediate effect describing it threat to the safety of the Airport.
CM said that the construction work is going on war footing level around the Airport, which is direct threat to the Airport security and it would be stopped forthwith.
He mentioned that the Government of India had already approved the project for setting up of a green field airport at Halwara near Ludhiana instead of Ladowal where the Punjab Government was keen because of existing Cargo facility over there. The Ministry of Civil Aviation would direct the Airport Authority of India to undertake the construction work of new airport at Halwara shortly to complete it within the stipulated time frame.
