Gulf Air told to pay for harassment

Chandigarh: The Consumer Forum has directed Gulf Air, New Delhi and Sandal Travels, Sector 34, Chandigarh to pay Rs 33,000 for causing mental harassment and agony to a Panchkula based resident, Kavita Soni.
As per the complaint, Kavita had bought two confirmed tickets of Gulf Air for herself and her son, aged three years, from Delhi to Muscat and back from Sandal Travels Pvt Limited.
The return ticket was confirmed for July 4, 2004.
However, when the complainant went to the Gulf Air office in Muscat on June 30, 2004, she was informed that the ticket had been “OK” accidentally and it was not possible to accommodate her on July 4, 2004.
The complainant said she was stuck in Muscat and there was a possibility that she would not be able to join her job as teacher in Sacred Heart Convent School on time.
