Long flights to India unaffected

New Delhi: The UK air threat has rendered a big threat to the aviation industry. "The London incident has come as a big blow for the travel industry. With the increased security hassles, travellers are a worried lot today," says Ankur Bhatia, executive director of Bird Travels.
"People are travelling only if it is absolutely essential." Thomas Cook officials add that it has also seen some cancellations over the weekend.
But the scene here is still better off than in most other countries, particularly UK," adds Manav Kapoor of Delhi-based Onkar Travels. Internationally, airlines have cancelled a third of their flights from London Heathrow - mostly to Europe and US.
But the long-haul flights to India have been largely unaffected, spare the huge delays in check-in and take-off. Even in India, the airlines have been reporting delayed departures because of heightened security checks, but there have hardly been any flight cancellations.
But the industry is sitting fingers crossed.
