Maharashtra plans helipad at Priyadarshini

Mumabi: With the Airport Authority of India's plan for a helipad at Colaba hitting a roadblock, the state government-run Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) is planning to build one off Napean Sea Road near Priyadarshini Park.
MADC's managing director R C Sinha said, "The AAI had asked for a 15,000-sq m plot for its helipad at Colaba. But we learn that the Mumbai Port Trust, which owns the land, does not appear keen on giving up its land.
So we have decided to go ahead with the proposal to develop a helipad off Napean Sea Road. The city collector has already agreed to give us the land. Only the formalities need to be completed." The MADC has sought 500 sq m from the collectorate and it plans to recover the cost by charging chopper operators for each landing and take-off.
