Mumbai airport on high alert

Mumabi: Security was beefed up at the Mumbai airport on Independence Day in the wake of recent terrorist plot in Britain and the recent serial train blasts in the city. A large number of CISF personnel were deployed at the airport to prevent any untoward incident.
Every vehicle had to pass through multiple checkpoints for thorough frisking and taxis were made to park further away from the airport’s main gates. The airport witnessed low passenger traffic, which created a feeling of orderliness.
Equipment including metal detectors, X-ray machines, sniffer dogs and security cameras has been installed since the past several months. In addition, CISF jawans armed with machine guns have been patrolling since the recent Heathrow bomb threat. The passengers, however, are not affected by the additional security.
