Pailan group plans short-haul flights

Kolkata: The Pailan Group plans to begin short-haul flights from Kolkata's Behala Flying Club, if its tender for the 220-acre defunct flying club and pilot training institute is approved.
The other bidder in the running is G S Atwal and Company Engineers) private Limited.
The group will leverage its experience in the education industry for re-opening the training school, and its joint-venture with Nepal's Yeti Airlines for starting the commercial flight service from Kolkata to nearby destinations.
The initial project cost for the venture has been estimated at Rs 500 crore.
The Pailan Group has entered into a 51: 39 joint venture with Nepal-based Yeti Airlines for starting short-haul flights from the Behala Flying Club to destinations within West Bengal or in neighbouring states.
While Yeti will provide technical expertise, Pailan will be responsible for developing the infrastructure for the project and training pilots.
