Cochin International Airport registers steady growth

Nedumbassery: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) registered a steady growth in both flight and passenger movements during 2005-06.
International passenger movement through the airport registered a growth rate of 14.77 per cent during the period. A total of 11,54,717 international passengers (5,63,719 incoming and 5,90,998 outgoing) passed through the airport, compared to 10,06,156 passengers (4,95,276 incoming and 5,10,880 outgoing) during the preceding year.
Domestic passenger movement during the period registered an even higher growth rate of 24 per cent.
As many as 7,31,661 passengers (3,73,146 incoming and 3,58,515 outgoing) passed through the airport, an increase from 5,90,054 passengers (2,96,785 incoming and 2,93,269 outgoing) during 2004-05.
International flight movement registered a growth rate of 10.86 per cent in 2005-06, when 11,444 flights (5,720 arriving and 5,724 departing) were operated out of the airport.
This was an increase from 10,323 flights (5,160 arriving and 5,163 departing) operated in 2004-05.
Domestic aircraft movement rose by 15 per cent with 9,531 flights (4,768 arriving and 4,763 departing) operating from here, compared to 8,288 flights (4,144 each) during 2004-05.
On an average, 31,062 international passengers (13,745 arriving and 17,317 departing) pass through the airport a week. The weekly passenger movement in the domestic sector is 19,243 passengers (9,504 arriving and 9,739 departing). The airport operates 136 international and 154 domestic flights a week.
