Helsinki: Finland's flag carrier Finnair plans to recruit 600 flight attendants, including some Indians, as it seeks to expand its presence in the Asian and European markets.
The 83-year-old airline said it would have 2-3 Asian cabin crew per aircraft. It has already recruited six Indian flight attendants for its Helsinki-New Delhi service that will start on October 30.
The Finnish national airline's direct Helsinki-New Delhi services are scheduled to open on October 30. The cabin crew strength would be augmented by about 600 as part of Finnair's strategy to become a big player in the Asian and European markets.
However, the new cabin crew would be recruited at about 30 per cent less pay than the existing ones with the airline, which is grappling with a one-third plunge in average ticket prices and a three-fold hike in fuel prices in the last four years.
