Government Agrees to Provide Land to Expand Patna Airport

Patna: The state government, following a meeting with the Airport Authority chairperson K. Ramalingham on Saturday, has agreed to expand the runway of the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport by making available 70 acres of adjacent lands and by trimming trees in the area in an attempt to facilitate more international flights from the airport, officials said.
Instead of cutting down more than 3.000 trees in the airport region, the government has agreed to get trees trimmed in the area to make room for expanded runway, reports said.
While 50 acres of land will be used to expand the existing airport building, 20 acres of land will go towards the expansion of the parking lot, officials said.
