A-I may review overseas schedules as aircraft lease period expires

New Delhi, Mumbai: National carrier Air-India (A-I) might have to review its trans-Atlantic and UK flight schedules as the lease period of four of its long-haul aircraft are coming to an end in November 2006. Unfortunately, it's the beginning of the peak season and the company is finding it increasingly difficult to lease new aircraft.
The four 747 aircraft are operating flights on international high density routes like the United States, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, according to an industry source.
Air-India had leased the four Boeing 747 long haul aircraft in 2003 whose lease ends in November-December, 2006.
Air India operates 50-odd flights with a fleet of 43 aircraft. These include 19 Airbus A-310, 14 Boeing 747, 4 Boeing-777 and 4 Boeing 737-800 that fly to over 50 destinations daily.
