International flights to Mangalore to boost coastal tourism

Mangalore: The introduction of international flight services at Bajpe Airport from October 3 will provide the much required thrust to coastal tourism, Indian Airlines Area Marketing Manager Nagesh Shetty said on Wednesday.
He was inaugurating World Tourism Day celebrations at Yakshagana Kala Mandir in Mangalore University.
He mentioned that, Mangalore had established a reputation for its pristine beaches, clean air, best educational institutions, state-of-the-art hospitals and ayurvedic treatment centres.
Describing tourism industry as the second fastest growing industry, Shetty said that they were falling behind in marketing the potential of ?coastal belt? in comparison to other developed countries.
