PM will discuss airport plans with WB Govt.: Aviation Secretary

Civil Aviation Secretary Ajay Prasad has disclosed that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is keen to hold talks with the West Bengal government by October-end to discuss modalities to be adopted in modernizing the Kolkata airport.
The West Bengal government had officially communicated to the Union ministry three weeks ago that they want only the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to manage and do the modernization work of the Kolkata airport, unlike the Delhi and Mumbai airports, where the work is being carried out by private parties.
AAI has been asked to prepare a blueprint for modernising the Kolkata airport, Prasad added. He said around Rs 30 billion would be required to modernize the airport.
