Report from Nanavati lends weight to airhostess’ claim

Mumbai: The Air-India airhostess, who has been grounded for being overweight, passed her weight check at Nanavati Hospital on Saturday.
The Bombay High Court had directed A-I to let Janet Correa (name changed) resume flying if her weight was found to be under the permissible limit (79 kg). However, the airlines had refused to accept the medical report, she alleged. “I took the medical report to the A-I medical officer, who rejected it on the grounds that the hospital superintendent had not supervised the medical examination,” Correa (51) told DNA on Saturday.
Taken off flying duty for being overweight, Correa had moved the HC, stating that A-I had refused to accept a medical report of Hinduja Hospital, which is on the A-I panel of approved hospitals. The Hinduja report had confirmed that she had brought her weight down to the permissible limit. The court on Friday asked her to get a fresh check done at Nanavati Hospital and directed A-I to let her resume duty if her weight was found to be below 79 kg.
