SpiceJet to double fleet, increase flight operations

SpiceJet plans to more than double the size of its fleet within the next year, and to increase the number of its daily flights from 48 to 86 by January 2007, reports Economic Times.
The no-frills carrier, which incurred a net loss of Rs 410 million in the first quarter of this year, is also targeting a 100% rise in its revenues. The company is expecting to increase overall revenue from Rs 4.53 billion currently to nearly Rs 9.1 billion by the next financial year, said Ajay Singh, director, SpiceJet.
The company claims it would make a net profit by next fiscal through expansion in its fleet size, flight operations and reduction in costs.
The airline is likely to connect Delhi with cities like Jaipur, Indore, Guwahati, and Varanasi soon.
And by the end of 2008, the company plans to add 23 new aircraft to the existing fleet of six planes.
